In a most surprising and probably unintentional move, LEGO has inadvertently given us our first look at the new LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (75308) set that is coming out later this year.
The promotional video for the LEGO Star Wars Probe Droid (75306) had a quick shot of an brick build R2-D2 sitting below a table.
There has been rumours that there would be another LEGO R2-D2 model that is akin to the Ultimate Collector Series version that was released in 2012.
Thanks to the promotional video released by LEGO, we now have confirmation that it truly exists. We’re still trying to ascertain the piece count but there are reports that it would have a recommended retail price of €199.99.
I’m expecting it to debut, along with other exclusive LEGO Star Wars sets during the May the 4th celebrations this year.
Why? What’s the point of coming out with yet another R2 lego set that no one wants? This is what I hate about the Lego company. They focus on the same exact sets every single time when dealing with the Star Wars theme. Absolutely no innovation! Wheres the slew of sets that we used to see, all different and creative? To be honest, who wants the new Sequel sets? And that’s all they threw out to the public last year. Im just waiting for Lego to actually step up their game.
You’re not alone in that opinion although a lot of time it also has to do with the IP partner requesting for specific sets to be made.

It’s the second. The first one was retired in 2014. More than a dozen of them have sold on eBay in the past week, with new sealed boxes selling for $400+. For every person who has one of the old ones, there’s probably at least one new potential customer for a re-make–and this is stepping up their game with a new design rather than just a re-release.
Did you complain when the new UCS Millennium Falcon came out? Is it wrong for designers to make new and improved versions of sets that haven’t been sold in years.
The first Hogwarts and Diagon Alley sets came out in 2021. I guess Lego should stick to making new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sets instead of Harry Potter if they want to carry on the Wizarding World theme.
Yeah wow there’s been a whole 1 other R2-D2 set before. Trust me LOTS of people want it, just because you were lucky enough to get the last one that means they shouldn’t release a new one for all the people who did not? Wow that’s pretty a pretty self centered attitude.
Yes want this one
This is one I do want
No, got 10225 and don’t think this looks much different. Think I will save my money for a more interesting Lego Set.
