It refreshing to welcome a set that isn’t based on some pre-existing franchise as we have been inundated with collaborations and reboots for the past few of years.
The LEGO Ideas The Insect Collection was the brain child of hachiroku24 (Chema Pérez) who also brought us the LEGO Ideas Iron Giant project.
The LEGO Ideas set features five lifesized insects in the form of a Blue Morpho butterfly, a praying mantis, a Hercules Beetle, a honey bee and a spotted ladybug.
There are new elements introduced in this set as it looks like the brick built bee contains a printed egg element. There also looks to be a brand new leaf element that is a variation of the LEGO Fern piece that was first spotted in the LEGO Rivendell (10316).
The display will consist of 1111 pcs in total and will have a recommended retail price of USD79.99 / €79.99 / £69.99 / 124.99 AUD / 99.99 CAD.
Chema Pérez’s set will hit the shelves on September 1st at all LEGO Brand and Certified Stores across the globe.
LEGO Ideas The Insect Collection 21342 marks a return to a time when the platform was more about promoting interesting set ideas instead of being the next franchise testbed.
