Earlier today, LEGO had its official reveal of next year’s Lunar New Year sets to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit and they look absolutely gorgeous.
There are a handful of new elements, like a larger minifigure hears along with a swath of printed tiles and colour variations. Not to mention a highly sought after minifigure accessory that we’ve clamoured for.
The Lunar New Year Parade actually depicts a tradition of a contingent of floats celebrating the Year of the Rabbit. Think of it as something like Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade but with a lot of lights and festivities.
And I think for the first time, we’ll be getting purple air tanks!
The Lunar New Year Display (80110) actually consists of two brick built character cards adorned with festive icons like gold ingots, koi fish, red packets and the Chinese words “Zhao Cai Jin Bao” (招財進寶) which means to usher in wealth and prosperity.
The other card consists of pink peony flowers with the Chinese characters “Hua Kai Fu Gui” (花开富贵) which means flower that brings prosperity and happiness.
This is representative of the a kumquat/tangerine tree that Chinese families like to display during the Lunar New Year period. It is meant to bring more luck and good fortune to the household and those visiting.
This feels like a follow up to last year’s Happy Childhood Moments (10943) as this expands on the festivities that were depicted in its predecessor. There is an exclusive Duplo rabbit toy element along with some new ones like the Ruan (阮) instrument.
These sets will be available at all LEGO Brand and Certified Stores on December 25th.
More information will be available soon so watch this space!
