LEGO UCS Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Rumoured

When LEGO acquired the license to produce Brent Waller’s LEGO Ideas Ecto-1 (21108) there were a tonne of speculation on what might follow and so far, we’ve been treated to a couple of Ghostbusters themed sets.

Now there is chatter of the iconic 1959 Cadillac getting the Ultimate Collectors Series (UCS) treatment. The LEGO UCS Ghostbusters Ecto-1 could easily be the continuation of the trend by LEGO set by the LEGO 1989 Batmobile (76139).

LEGO has produced some iconic movie vehicles in the last couple of years with the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262) and the LEGO Technic Dom’s Dodge Charger (42111).

It wouldn’t be too far a stretch that LEGO would churn out a large scale LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 considering that Sony Pictures has the Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie around the corner and that LEGO still owns the license to produce brick sets.

However, the Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie has been pushed back to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic so LEGO might just delay the release to coincide with the movie launch. I would totally welcome a UCS version of the LEGO Ecto-1 as that is one of my favourite movie cars to date!
