The LEGO Brand Store in Copenhagen is the first to test out LEGO’s new minifigure factory which allows you to customise and print your very own LEGO minifigure torso design.
There are a few pre-selected designs to start with but it is also possible to create a brand new design by drawing and adding text to your minifigure torso.
It utilises UV printing technique which is different from LEGO’s own pad printing system for their minifigures and printed parts.
The quality of the print looks pretty good but UV printing adds a layer on top of the plastic so you can feel the print when you run your fingers over it.
Our Copenhagen correspondent was on hand to check out the minifigure factory and manage to print his own custom pipette which was completely hand drawn.
The LEGO minifigure factory is only available at the LEGO Brand Store in Copenhagen for this Tuesday and Wednesday as a test run but if successful, this could roll out to the other LEGO Brand Stores soon.
It costs only 30DKK (SGD$6.3) to print both sides of the torso with either pre-selected artwork or your own design and it comes with a blue / purple / orange minifigure pod to hold you creation. That’s a pretty good deal for 30DKK if you think about it.
So if you’re in Copenhagen or anywhere in the vicinity of the LEGO Brand Store do pop in and give it a go. Guess LEGO has now officially entered the customised printing industry. *wink*
