We all know how ‘popular‘ the LEGO Star Wars Assault on Hoth (75098) and LEGO Classic Batman Batcave (76052) were during their debut and if you haven’t picked them up yet, some regions are having massive discounts for them.
Australia Target is reporting that both the LEGO Star Wars Assault on Hoth and LEGO® DC Comics Super Heroes Batman™ Classic TV Series Batcave (76052) sets are selling for AUD$199 from an original price of AUD$399. That is $200 worth of savings.
The two sets did not prove to be much of a hit with the fans and taking 50% off the price tag of a UCS (Ultimate Collector’s Series) and D2C (Direct-to-consumer) set is definitely making the them a lot more palatable.
Even the LEGO Certified Store in Malaysia is having their own promotion for the LEGO Classic Batman Batcave (76052). For every set that you buy at RM1,399 (SGD$442.20), they will give you a FULL BOX of LEGO Batman Movie minifigures (71017) worth RM1,200 (SGD$379.50).
I kind of thought that the LEGO Batman Movie minifigures were doing alright but I guess the price hike for the series did affect the consumer purchase habits as well.
Needless to say, this is a boon for any AFOL who would want to get their hands on either sets. The “UCS” Assault on Hoth was essentially a super pack and the Classic Batcave had the classic batmobile with the range of minifigures.
They both had decent play factors but the initial RRP (Recommended Retail Price) was just too painful for my bank account. Hopefully these offers will trickle their way to the Singapore market.
Wallets at the ready.
