Marcos Bessa, Senior LEGO Designer ©LUG Brazil
The man behind some of our favourite LEGO® sets is going to be setting foot in our tiny island and for the very first time, AFOLs both young and old will have a chance to meet him in person!
For some of us who have been following Marcos Bessa’s work quite closely, there are those who are still unfamiliar with his works so I thought to write a quick post on his background and Brickography.
Marcos Bessa hails from a small town named Vilela in the north of Portugal. He completed college with a Masters degree in Informatics and Computer Engineering before deciding to pursue his dream to work at LEGO which lead him to be one of the youngest LEGO® designers to be hired by the LEGO® Group.
He started as a junior set designer in 2010 for the Superheroes theme and was quickly promoted to a full fledge set designer in less than a year and finally senior designer in 2013.

One of my favourite LEGO® sets to this date is still the LEGO® Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108) which he helped refine from Brent Waller’s initial design as well as the LEGO® Star Wars Ewok Village which I love for the play features. After researching his Brickography, I’m actually surprised that I have a number of the sets he designed in my *ahem* burgeoning LEGO® collection.
Here is a list of the sets he has designed according to Brickipedia:
Aside for his love for the brick, he also has a talent for singing which got him a spot on the TV show, Danmark Har Talent (Denmark’s Got Talent) where he reached the semi-finals which then got him on the Portuguese version of “The Voice”.
Marcos Bessa will be in Singapore for the launch of the LEGO BrickHeadz line which he was the lead designer for. There is a meet and greet session on the 11th of March but he will only be signing sets that are bought from the LEGO Certified Store on the day itself.
Special Note:
There is also a workshop that will be conducted by Marcos Bessa on March 12th for those who have bought or pre-ordered the full range of LEGO BrickHeadz.
Special Note: Lucky winners will be emailed latest by 11th March 1800H.
