Review: LEGO Christmas Toy Soldier Ornament

LEGO Christmas Toy Soldier Ornament (500442)

LEGO has been releasing exclusive LEGO christmas tree ornaments for the past couple of years with the LEGO Christmas Train Ornament (5002813) in 2014 and LEGO Christmas Tree Ornament (5003083) in 2015.

This year, the ornament is that of a Toy Soldier (500442) which is a nice addition to the growing collection of LEGO ornaments and baubles on my Christmas tree.

I really do enjoy the holiday Christmas gift roll outs that LEGO does every end of the year as the ornaments are to me like a year end cap to all the insane LEGO buying throughout the year.

They each come with a special printed tile with the year that they are released in. The Christmas train had a 2×2 printed tile with 2014 and the Christmas Tree had a 1×2 printed tile with the year 2015.

The Toy Solider build is rather simple, studs up type of build. It has clips for hands to hold its’ reddish brown rifle and a lifting ring at the top for the tinsel to loop through and attach to your Christmas tree.

I’m a sucker for packaging and I really love the pouch that comes with this Toy Soldier as it has a nice LEGO embroidered tag at the bottom. Even the bags for the LEGO elements come with perforated edges which is departure from the usual bag seals.

My only gripe is that it is not available in Singapore which is a little odd since the Christmas Tree Ornament (5003083) actually made it to our shores last year through the LEGO Certified Stores.

I’ve included the instructions below for anyone who wants to build this and add to your christmas decorations. The only thing you’ll be missing is the 2×2 tile with the 2016 print which I feel one could do without especially if you are going to hang it off a fir tree branch.
