Brickfinder Goes To The Largest LEGO Store in South East Asia!
Today, we were treated to a special preview of the latest LEGO Certified Store opening in Singapore which is a culmination of the seven years journey of the LEGO Certified Store programme.
It is technically a re-opening as the Bricks World LEGO Certified Store shuttered it’s previous Sentosa outlet almost a year ago, only to relocate it to a much bigger and better location.
The new LEGO Certified Store in Sentosa has a footprint of 3165 sq ft, making it the largest LEGO Certified Store in the whole of South East Asia.
And of course, a flagship store of this significance cannot go unfurnished with the latest LEGO brand experience features!
LEGO Merlion Minifigure
One of the main features at the store is a custom build of a 1.4m Merlion Minifigure with some of Singapore’s iconic landmarks rendered in LEGO form.
This is also another landmark for Singapore as this would be the first time we’re actually seeing a LEGO Merlion Minifigure. Could this be a sneak preview of one of the characters in the next Collector Minifigure Series? You heard it here first!
I ❤️ SG Signage
There is a really cool photo opportunity outside with the “I ❤️ SG” where the ‘heart’ is completely brick built. From what I’m told, this would be the first time the Heart is rendered this way as the old design is a lot blockier.
LEGO Mosaic Wall Art
LEGO Certified Professional Nicholas Foo titled this piece “Quay Colours” that features a junk boat along the Singapore river with the Fullerton Hotel and Cavanagh Bridge as a backdrop.
What is really interesting is that he managed to recreate it like it was a water colour painting which if anyone has tried their hand at mosaic art, is not an easy feat.
LEGO Mosaic Maker
A first for Singapore, as well for the Asia Pacific, is the inclusion of the popular LEGO Mosaic Maker booth. The Mosaic Maker did make its way to Hong Kong and Japan for a short period of time but this is the first time that it will be permanently installed in a store.
Think of it as a photo booth but instead of photographs, you get a LEGO set that you can build your photo from. It costs £99 to make one in the United Kingdom and it is only SGD179.90 (before discount).
Which means that Singapore is currently the cheapest place to get your mosaic done!
Pick-A-Brick Wall
As this is the largest LEGO Certified Store in South East Asia, it is no surprise that this would also house the largest Pick-A-Brick Wall in the region.
While there are a 160 tubes of elements to choose from, some of them do contain similar elements but this has the capacity to hold a wider variety of parts which I hope to see the PAB palette selection expand in Singapore.
A large cup will cost SGD$28.70 and if you bring your own, you get a little rebate on that price.
Dual-Tiered LEGO Diorama
No LEGO Store around the world would not be complete without some contributions by LEGO fans and this massive diorama was constructed by the fine guys at Titans Creations RLUG (Recognised LEGO User Group).
There are two sections to the display, one that features some of the iconic landmarks of Singapore’s island resort and the other is the underwater world that exists beneath it.
The team had only six weeks to conceptualise and construct this sprawling diorama that encompasses the current LEGO themes that are available in store.
There is also a handful of exclusive gift with purchases to redeem when you spend a minimum of SGD$88 dollars at the store.
There are four designs in total and you can collect a different one each week starting from tomorrow (25th June 2021).
I think that this is the first time that a LEGO Certified Store has managed to recreate the LEGO Brand Store experience so closely.
The store really does not feel like it is a place just to suck your money but to also experience what LEGO has to offer that does not require the wallet.
