LEGO Japan And Amazon Japan Rebuild The World Their Way

With the Rebuild The World campaign being expanded into more Asian countries, some have taken to give their own spin through their marketing efforts.

Amazon Japan has published a series of “combination builds” where they combine sets of different themes to inspire the next generation of buyers….I mean builders.

Yes, the main aim is to move product off the shelves (or in this case, out of the Amazon warehouse) but at least this advertising campaign does actually challenge the imagination of the end user to build beyond the box.

LEGO should always be about building what you want and this does celebrate that inherent notion to create. One particular build that I loved is the one where they took the LEGO Monkey Kid Lion Guardian (80021) and meshed it with the LEGO Technic Off Road Buggy (40124).

It is this kind of creativity that I find missing in LEGO’s marketing lately.

Remember the days when LEGO used to include images of the B and C models in the box packaging but not give you the instructions on how to build them? Yeah, I kind of miss those.

I for one would love to see more of these as it adds a new dimension to just following instructions and building out of the box.
