Can Netflix Bring Back LEGO Avatar: The Last Airbender?

With the casting announcement of Netflix’s live action adaptation of the beloved animated series, Avatar The Last Airbender, it also begs the question of whether we’ll see a revival of LEGO’s Avatar: The Last Airbender theme.

I’m a HUGE fan of the animated series, and to some extend Legend of Korra, so any chance of LEGO bringing back the retired will definitely pique my interest.

There is a new player in town since LEGO’s last outing into the Earth Kingdom which of course is the streaming juggernaut, Netflix. Previously LEGO had a deal with Nickelodeon which also snagged us the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series.

There are two factors in which I feel that we could see a LEGO Avatar: The Last Airbender in the near future is LEGO’s licensing deal with Netflix itself.

They have already produced the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810) set and helped out on the  Netflix documentary “The Toys That Made Us”. There is also the rumoured “Queer Eye” set which is also a Netflix property so we can assume that the relationship with the streaming platform is healthy.

The other factor that I can think of is the LEGO Ideas Avatar the Last Airbender project which garnered 10,000 votes but was not selected to go into production.

LEGO already has the marketing research that it the theme is popular enough to warrant a set. And maybe the reason they did not approve of the project is because there was already a theme being worked on. It definitely would not be the first time it has happened. (ie. Ghostbusters HQ).

I feel that LEGO Avatar The Last Airbender is a potential candidate for a new wave of sets considering that Netflix is planning a live action series. Not to mention that Nickelodeon has also announced their own “Avatar Studios” helmed by both Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko to produce more content set in the world of the four nations.

What do you guys think? Would you want another romp through the Earth Kingdom or should we just leave it alone and focus on newer and more original sets?

Like they say, “There is no war in Ba Sing Se”.
