Aside from selecting LEGO Ideas projects to be made into actual LEGO sets sold in stores, they have been running contests that allows fans to be involved in the creation of future gift with purchase sets.
They have just announced the winner of the space themed “Out of This World” building contest to be The Adventures of the USS Cardboard!
It is a lovely model with a healthy dose of childhood nostalgia. It features a child who is having a make-believe adventure with a spaceship cobbled out of cardboard and random toys which is something I totally did when I was a kid.
Congratulations Ivan Guerrero (Philippines) for such a lovely model that I’m sure will be highly sought after when it launches. If you find his name familiar, he is the fan designer for the LEGO Ideas Sesame Street (21324).
