LEGO M.A.S.K. Boulder Hill Brings Back The 80’s Nostalgia

As some of you know, I’m a huge fan of 1980’s Saturday morning cartoons and M.A.S.K. (Mobile Armoured Strike Kommand) is no exception.

The main premise revolved around the battle between an underground task force called M.A.S.K. and a criminal organization called V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem). They had vehicles that were packed with gadgets that turned ordinary trucks and cars into weapons of mass destruction.

All my friends had one or two of the toys but the crowning achievement was the M.A.S.K. secret headquarters, Boulder Hill. It was a huge play-set that had an ordinary gas station that could transform into a battle ready base with moving turrets and extendable blast doors.

This LEGO model replicates exactly what I remember from that play-set all the way from the seemingly harmless gas pumps that reveal themselves to be rotating turrets to the removable boulder at the top of the mountain to reveal a mini-gun that fends off arial attacks.

LEGO Fan Builders Ivan Ho (Titans Creations) and Evan Chang even included the trap door at the top of the roof that drops any would be intruders into the jail cell below.

There is one addition to the play-set and that is the round table staging area where our heroes charge their masks and subsequently board their vehicles.

This project took the duo approximately three months to construct and somewhere between 5000-8000 elements to complete the diorama and vehicles.

I would totally support a LEGO revival of M.A.S.K. as they have such iconic cars like Thunderbird, Rhino and Firefly which could translate well to the plastic brick. Who knows, maybe if Netflix reboots the series, LEGO might just take notice.
