The Xtras Accessory polybags made quite a splash when they debut in the middle of this year. There were five in the initial wave that covered a range of themes like plants, cookery and even street lamps.
Now LEGO is adding a 6th polybag that features underwater accessories and they graciously allowed me to get a sneak preview of what’s in the bag.
The Xtras polybag comes with a total of 24pcs which makes it the second smallest in terms of piece count but do note that it comes with a shark so that kind of makes up for it.
It also comes with a pair of green flippers, a surf board, two jewels, treasure chest, barrel, a clam shell with a star, a buoy, a blue/yellow parrot, a fishing spear, an oar, a chest, fish, binoculars and a 2×2 printed map tile.
The selection of elements is pretty decent especially since this is the first time you can officially army build your shark squadron.
As it is listed as 24pcs and LEGO knows how we have a tendency to lose the smaller elements, they have included a selection of extra parts in case some gets misplaced.
For this polybag there was enough ‘extras’ to make another fishing spear plus a third flipper and star amongst other elements.
A quick check on Bricklink has the Dark Bluish Grey shark listed at a US$2.50 average which translates to approximately SGD$3.50.
Granted that the previous Xtra Accessory polybags retailed at SGD$7.99 / USD$3.99, the recommended retail price is not too shabby as the shark + shipping cost makes up for more than half the price of the pack.
I really love these Xtra polybags as they are relatively cheap for the average AFOL and it gives you access to pieces and elements that you would not normally get outside of a LEGO set.
The LEGO Xtra Sea Accessory (40341) polybag will be available on Jan 1st.
