As the release of the first ever LEGO Harry Potter Minifigure Series is just around the corner, there are a couple of things that LEGO hasn’t officially revealed yet.
It is listed on the box that there are twenty-two characters to collect but it has been discovered that there are actually two secret characters that were not included in the box art.
The first of which is the character of Percival Graves from the movie “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. What you cannot see from any of the box art is that he has dual face prints, one for the character of Percival Graves (Colin Firth Farrel) and the other, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).
At the end of the movie, Percival Graves is revealed to be Grindelwald all along but Percival was a person before Grindelwald assumed his identity. It is not known if he was killed or just held in captivity but this means that the Percival Graves minifigure actually contains two characters that have exists/existed in the Potterverse.
For the casual collector this would not make much of a difference but I do know some hardcore ones that would want to display both characters at the same time. It is unfortunate that this would be the ‘chase’ minifigure for this series as that limits him to only appear once per box which would make finding an extra copy of him next to impossible.
The other minifigure that holds a secret character is Alastor Moody or “Mad Eye Moody” as he is fondly referred to by the students of Hogwarts.
In the movie “The Goblet of Fire”, he was kidnapped by “Barty” Crouch Junior for most of the film and only revealed to be an imposter when Dumbledore rescues Harry near the end.
Mad Eye Moody’s minifigure also contains dual face prints for with one side belonging to Alastor and the other belonging to Barty.
As with Percival Graves / Grindelwald both Barty Crouch Jr. and Alastor Moody are existing characters in the world of Harry Potter and this would be the first time Barty is appearing as a minifigure.
Unlike Graves / Grindelwald, Mad Eye Moody / Barty Crouch Jr. is not a rare minifigure in the box and there are three copies of him inside. Grabbing an extra one to display in your minifigure Ribba frame wouldn’t prove too much of a task.
On a side note, Barty Crouch Jr is played by David Tennant in the film and this would be the first time he appears in minifigure form anywhere so all you LEGO Dr. Who fans out there will now be able to fashion the 1oth doctor with this ‘official’ David Tennant headpiece.
