I spent the weekend up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to check out their Cities of Wonders event that was held at the Pavillion KL Shopping mall.
The “Let’s Go Raya” event is part of the celebration of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which featured a lot of cultural icons, recreated with the LEGO brick.
One of the main highlights is a huge LEGO diorama by the members of the LUG of Malaysia (LOM) that depicted life in a traditional kampung.
The builders were challenged to create an idyllic beach side village with each one contributing their own portion of the diorama.
What I really enjoyed a lot was going through the entire display and spotting all the cool little throwbacks to what life was like in a kampung.
In addition to the diorama, there was a huge LEGO mural that the public could participate in the construction of. Kids and adults were giving portions of the mural to construct that would be added later to complete the brick painting.
There were also a slew of other building related activities that you and your child can do together like creating your very own LEGO Cupcake.
It is really quite inspiring to see LEGO Malaysia working with the local AFOLs to produce an event of this scale. Keep up the great work guys! Really looking forward to your next event!
