The latest LEGO Certified Store (LCS) opens its doors today at Plaza Singapore Shopping Centre here in Singapore.
It is the 9th LCS in total making Singapore the country with the largest number of LEGO Certified Store per capita.
There is the usual store opening promotions like the LEGO Brand Retail Store (40145) set giveaway and the exclusive deals to the instant lucky dip for kids.
The LEGO Brand Retail Store (40145) giveaway is done slightly different here in Singapore as it is distributed in the form of a “scratch card” mechanic.
Instead of getting one if you’re the first 250 customers like when a LEGO Brand Retail Store opens, the set is given out as part of a “sure win scratch card”. On top of the LEGO Brand Retail Store (40145) set, you stand to win other sets like the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ (75827) and the LEGO Caterham Seven 620R (21307) set amongst others.
On top of the store opening, the LEGO Certified Store is celebrating the 10 years of the LEGO Creator modular series. As you know, this popular series started 10 years ago and we have worked together with the LEGO Certified Store to gather all the sets for the display.
Every set is on display from the Cafe Corner (10182) that debut in 2007 to the Assembly Square (10255) that came out earlier this year. We hope that you enjoy it!
One of the main highlights is the inclusion of the LEGO Digital Box scanner. This is a FIRST for any LEGO Certified Store in Asia and hopefully it will roll out to the other stores in the future. Basically you can take any LEGO set (except the D2C ones for some reason) and place it in front of the camera to watch a 3D rendering of the set.
It utilises augmented reality to create a 3D animation that you can see in the screen in front of you on top of the box that you’re holding. You can swivel it around to see the animation from different angles, all while the animation is still playing.
The store sports the full suite of LCS features from the Pick-A-Brick Wall with the small tub costing SGD$20.90 and the big tub going for SGD$36.50.
Saw a few tubes with 2×2 white, red and yellow tiles. No doubt that they will be sold out quickly of that as they are some of the most popular elements on the PAB wall.
There is a build a minifigure station that allows you to customise a personal minifigure at SGD$5.50 or 3 for SGD$14.95.
There is a new interactive free-build play area for kids too with an LCD display overlaid with transparent baseplates for them to build upon. The kids can follow whatever they see on screen and build according to the images.
While this is the 9th Lego Certified Store in Singapore, there are still talks of more opening further down the road. With LEGO’s presence firmly secured in the Singapore consciousness, one can only imagine what might the next step will be.
