Celebrate The Lunar New Year With LEGO In Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Tourism Board is teaming up with LEGO for this year’s Lunar New Year Celebrations!

The 2017 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade will take place on the first day of  the Lunar New Year, 28th January and amongst the procession will be a fully decked out LEGO float.

LEGO Certified Professional Andy Hung will be constructing the 2 meter tall LEGO Rooster.

A 2-meter tall LEGO Rooster and a replica of the God of Wealth, built by LEGO Certified Professional Andy Hungwill adorn the float along with 20 other LEGO minifigure characters which took a total of 220,000 LEGO bricks to build.

After the parade, all the floats will be docked at Lam Tsuen in Tai Po from the 29th of January to the 12th of February 2017.

If you are in Hong Kong to usher in the Lunar New Year, you might want to take note of this as this will be the first time that a LEGO float will be appearing in the parade.

Here are the details:

2017 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade

  • Date: 28th January 2017 (Chinese New Year’s Day)
  • Time: 8–9:45pm (Live telecast on TVB Jade channel);
    – Spectator stands open to ticket holders at 7pm
    – Pre-parade street performances will warm up the route from 6pm onwards
  • Route: Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
    – Parade starts with an opening ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui (For ticket holders only)
    – Proceeds along Canton Road, Haiphong Road, Nathan Road and Salisbury Road, and ends outside Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers
